Working with Messages

When a request for information is made, both the request and response are displayed within the main Talon window.  There are four different ways to view messages in Talon - Activity, Message List, Manage Messages and Case views.  These views are available through the View menu.  The following describes the features of each view.

Activity View

The Activity View displays every query and response in a single scrolling window.  Use the Next and Previous buttons to move between pages of messages.

Message List View

The Message List View displays a history of messages for the current user and allows you to select a specific item to view the details.

Manage Messages View

The Manage Messages view is a new view introduced in Talon.  For each query requested, a folder is created on the left hand side of the screen.  Clicking a folder will show you the query and all responses to that query on the right hand side of the screen.  Selecting an item in the list will display the details of the message.

This view lets the user quickly find the responses that are associated with a particular query.

Case View

The Case View is another new view introduced in Talon.  For each query requested, a folder is created on the left hand side of the screen.  Any responses for the selected query are organized into folders according to the type of information it contains.  For example, an Addresses folder may be created and will list all the addresses returned for a specific person query.

This view helps investigators organize data into categories of information.
